"X is for "eXhilarating!" Pardon my excitement. There are very few instances of me making a passable X on the first try. Posting this attempt for posterity
Understanding the fundamental principles of your chosen hand will help you in writing your letterforms. Here are some additional reminders for myself during practice: 1) Relax your grip! Shaky hairlines caused by tight grip on pen. 2) Make sure loop is same size as loops of other letters. 3) Always make sure shades are parallel
S is for steady and smooth. Steady hands make smooth lines. I obviously don't have a steady hand (see those shaky hairlines ) Must work on whole arm movement Take note of the position of the dot in relation to the secondary shade. ••• Written using a Zebra G Ti nib, which is why the shades are thinner than my previous posts. Previous letters were written using a Hunt 101 nib (19/26 #HandletteredABCs #LeelyeABCs #NotesOnCopperplate)
"I is for in-depth. • • • the second stroke starts at the top of the compound curve, though I like to extend it slightly above the line for a bit more flair Try to maintain the angle of the entrance and exit stroke of the compound curve. The dot is slightly to the left or in lin
"G is for Greetings! Last week was a busy week, and I'll be posting my notes for the letters H I J K and L before the day ends. I love the way Lupfer described the compound curve for this letter. ❤️. Written with #Noodlers #ApacheSunset and Zebra Ti G nib)"
"Sorry for posting so late! I had a busy day. Majuscule E is a bit tricky to write. It's basically 2 ovals on top of each other. Don't make the two curves in line. The bottom shade will stick out slightly on the left. (07/14/2015)
"P is for proportion. Proportion and symmetry make #Copperplate letterforms beautiful and elegant. The benefits of oval drills will be evident in majuscule P. The rear loop and front loop should look like running or rolling ovals.
"Day 3 of #handletteredABCs. The letter C should follow the oval shape.
Here's a better look at the close up I posted the other day - this little one's name (and their meanings), and their date of birth, given as a gift for their 1st birthday 🎉 How special to be able to create these pieces for such precious occasions 💙
