Rita Hayworth (Margarita Carmen Cansino) was born on October 17, 1918, in Brooklyn, NY, into a family of dancers. Her father, Eduardo was a dancer as was his father before him. He emigrated from Spain in 1913 Her mother, Volga, had been a Ziegfeld Follies girl. Rita died at the age of 68 from complications associated with Alzheimer's disease, which she was diagnosed with in 1980.
