~ According to the legends, once Radharani alongwith other Gopis went to Nandgaon. There she met Yashoda maiya ( mother of Lord Krishna ). Yashoda maiya was so influenced by Radha's exquisite beauty and cultured behavior that she desired Radha to become her daughter-in-law in future. Deeply lost in her thoughts, Yashoda maiya applied some turmeric paste onto the hands of Radharani , which according to rituals is applied by mother-in-law to her would-be daughter-in-law.
