However, when he arrived and decided to go out to play, he would run away day and night. No matter how he called, it would not return. Say it's playful, indeed, why not stay home all day and all night?

That never seems to shift the cat's worldview however that it is 'top dog'* and deserves all the best that comes its way - which might not be all the 'best' that nature could provide but the cat doesn't know that.
