Bing & Grondahl Porcelain Else in a Blue Dress Sculpture by Ingeborg Plockross Irminger #1574 For Sale on Ruby Lane

Product details
The Bing & Grondahl Company was established in 1853 by Grondahl, who was a figurine maker for the Royal Danish Porcelain Factory, and the Bing brothers, who were art and book dealers. In 1987 the company merged with its primary competitor, under the name Royal Copenhagen.
This charming figurine, named "Else in a Blue Dress" portrays a young girl standing alone with head slightly bowed with a serious, somewhat sad look on her face. She is attired in a typical Danish long, short-sleeved dress with matching skull cap. She has a shoulder-strap purse which is engraved "Else". The original sculpture was designed by Ingeborg Plockroos Irminger, a Danish artist who is remembered both for her sculptures and for the miniature porcelain statues of animals and human figures she designed while working for Bing & Grøndahl. Decorated in the typical shades of blue, tan, and white noted for in B&G figures. The figurine measures 6 7/8" height. Stamped in green with the "Three Royal Towers of Copenhagen - B&G" in a circle, circa 1970-1982, and in green the model "1574" and artists initials "SP". There are no chips, cracks or repairs; near mint.
