The Tree Sparrow is smaller than a house sparrow and more active, with its tail often cocked. It has a chestnut brown head and nape and white cheeks and collar with a contrasting black cheek spot. The main populations are found across the Midlands and southern and eastern England. Its length is 14cm and the wingspan 20-22cm.
