With a desire to experience some of the historical sites in Seoul, we made our way to ancient grounds of Gyeongbokgung Palace. Built by the Joseon Dynasty in 1395, the sprawling palace was devastated during the Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592 and parts were completely demolished during the Japanese Colonial Period from 1910-1945.
