The Doors, Morrison Hotel*** (1970): By now, the only thing truly heavy-ish about the Doors, was Morrison. His vocals could be placed over the top of just about any metal music, and it would have fit right in. This album is really no exception. There were times that I could almost mistake his voice for Glen Danzig's vocals... though Morrison had a much better sound to his voice. Anyway, good album, but I know the band can do better. This is the 300th album in my little review project…

Abraxas, Santana - "Black Magic Woman," the Top Five hit from Abraxas, is definitive Santana: Afro-Latin grooves and piercing lyrical psychedelic blues guitar. It was a cover of a Fleetwood Mac song written by one of Carlos Santana's guitar heroes, Peter Green. The album's other hit was also a cover: Tito Puente's "Oye Como Va."
