Colm Joseph Gardens on Instagram: "outdoor living spaces immersed in soft, naturalistic planting in our cambridgeshire country garden project 🌿 a few different grasses + various flowering perennials + bulbs are used in this planting but the star of the show in these images is a grass called deschampsia cespitosa ‘goldtau’ (common name ‘tufted hair grass’ for obvious reasons 🙂) two main seating terraces — one for dining with a bespoke outdoor kitchen, a second for lounge furniture — are separated from the house + each other by the soft landscape areas, creating living spaces immersed in planting this composition means you walk through the planting + experience being amongst it whenever you go from one place to another within the garden . . . . design by @colm_joseph photos by @richar

The evenings are drawing in, but we managed some heavy Autumn housekeeping yesterday, moving shrubs that we hope will be happier in a different situation, lifted fallen leaves from the paths and said goodbye to an elderly witch hazel that had given up the ghost. We found new homes for plants that had outgrown their pots and generally started putting the garden to bed. And now, like magic, the rain has come to help settle everything in. 🙏 @theloosehorse"

Gardens Illustrated on Instagram: "A tiny, tranquil city sanctuary garden designed by @HarryHoldingstudio that makes the most of its shady situation. 🕶️ For this small London garden, designer Harry Holding has taken inspiration from the lush textures of tropical forests to create an urban woodland oasis. “We knew we were lucky to have a decent-size garden in inner city London,” says owner Tara Moss, who lives here with her husband and two teenage sons. “But we never really used the space before – it just didn’t work for us.” Though Harry agreed the lawn and shed had to go, rather than looking to remove the trees, he chose to work with them, relishing the lush, mature atmosphere they create.
