an old japanese candy box with cartoon characters on the front and back side, both in red

This is a great 1970's candy box from Meiji featuring the classic Kimba characters. This one is so pretty! This comes from the "Munktiki Collection", a large lot of consumer goods packaging saved and stored by Californian Paul Nielsen during the 1970's. A collection I recently acquired and will be documenting here. For more on Paul's current activities, check out www.munktiki.com.

an advertisement for the 1950's candy collection

Take a tasty trip back in time to the 1950’s with Nancy Adams 1950’s Decades candy gift box. All the candy the cool cats had to have like candy necklaces, Chuckles, smarties and more in one gift set. You'll be made in the shade when you give 1950's candy decades boxes as party favors, wedding favors, birthday favors, or candy gifts. Nassau Candy is THE destination for retro candy from the 1950’s to today. Better burn rubber and check it out.

two unopened boxes with cartoon characters on the front and back sides, one is yellow

Now here's something exciting for me to reveal - a vintage Rainbow Jumbo Nerds box. Featuring bright fluorescent colors and wonderful graphics - it's a Nerds box I'd never seen before. So when it arrived in the second batch of the Munktiki collection - I was thrilled. The same size as a standard Nerds, it features only one opening, since the candy inside is a rainbow mix. It's a beauty of a box, and one I feel fortunate to be able to share here. There is so much that's just right about this…

Ferrara Pan - Lemonhead -look for this seal- candy box - 1970's by JasonLiebig, via Flickr

A number of the Ferrara Pan boxes I have feature this similar notice on the reverse. This comes from the "Munktiki Collection", a large lot of consumer goods packaging saved and stored by Californian Paul Nielsen during the 1970's. A collection I recently acquired and will be documenting here. For more on Paul's current activities, check out www.munktiki.com.

many heart shaped valentine's day decorations are laid out on the floor

Here's a lovely collection of vintage heart-shaped candy boxes- those fanciful, romantic gifts that ladies hoped they'd be lucky enough to receive from their sweethearts on Valentine's Day. They were bedecked with ruffled lace, pleated satin, and fluffy tulle, then topped off with a big bow and a rose to boot. Inside was a variety of chocolate confectioneries by companies such as Whitman's, Schrafft's, See's, or Brach's. Whether traditional red, pink, or any sherbet-y pastel shade, the more…

two boxes of berryies candy sitting side by side on top of each other in front of a black background

Another classic Mason candy are BERRIES. I dig the box for this one, too. Lots of fun. This comes from the "Munktiki Collection", a large lot of consumer goods packaging saved and stored by Californian Paul Nielsen during the 1970's. A collection I recently acquired and will be documenting here. For more on Paul's current activities, check out www.munktiki.com.

Mason Wild Cherry Dots

Even back in the 1960's and 1970's, candy companies would spin off their main brands into special versions - such is the case with Wild Cherry Dots. I love the colors scheme on this box - I think it's a subtle and striking at the same time. This comes from the "Munktiki Collection", a large lot of consumer goods packaging saved and stored by Californian Paul Nielsen during the 1970's. A collection I recently acquired and will be documenting here. For more on Paul's current activities, check…

two boxes of red hots sitting on top of each other

I've certainly had my share of Red Hots over the decades. This comes from the "Munktiki Collection", a large lot of consumer goods packaging saved and stored by Californian Paul Nielsen during the 1970's. A collection I recently acquired and will be documenting here. For more on Paul's current activities, check out www.munktiki.com.
