This map shows that the Japanese attacked military airfields and hit the anchored fleet at the same time. The navy fields - Ford Island Kaneohe Bay , and the Marine airfields were all bombed as the Japanese focused on the ships that were in the harbor. The purpose of the simultaneous attacks was to make sure American planes could not defend themselves against the Japanese.
