an image of a tiara that is in the process of being worn by women

So we made it through the windstorm with only loosing 3 trees. One of the huge fir trees that line our driveway was our biggest loss :(. It took out an apple and cherry tree with it. It was a crazy night. We lost power twice, but not for too long. Once the power went out we just went to bed anyway. On the sick end of things Zoie seems to be turning a corner today. She has eaten a little and seems to be feeling a lot better. Raygen has been good beside having to feed her very slow so she…

The Angouleme Emerald Tiara worn by Marie Antoinette and made by Evrard and Frederic Bapst for the French crown jewels in 1820. There are 1031 diamonds and 40 emeralds in the setting. When sold in 1887, an observer remarked that anyone who had not seen it 'does not know what an emerald is, the green stones alternate with the brilliants in such a manner that there is an interplay of coloured light, the effect of which is magical.'

Royal Collection Trust on Instagram: "George I coronation took place on this day in 1714. A new Imperial State crown was made for his coronation and survives without its stones, which would have been hired for the occasion and then returned to the crown jeweller. The new crown incorporated some historic stones such as the large ‘Black Prince’s Ruby’ (a spinel), but new pearls, diamonds, emeralds and sapphires were added. This crown was used for coronations until 1838 when a new one was made…

Said to be "Queen Marie Antoinette of France diamond coronation crown.(replica)" Marie Antoinette was not crowned--though it's not impossible a crown was made for her, I suppose. Queens were by custom crowned separately, if at all. Anyway--this isn't the real thing, if there ever was a real thing...

Original parure made in 1811 by Maison Nitot for Empress Marie Louise (1791-1847), the second wife of Napoleon I. Louis XVIII had the crown jewels redone in the Restoration style instead of the Empire style. In 1816, the parure was remade to suit the Duchess of Angoulême. The rubies were worn by Queen Marie-Amélie and Empress Eugénie. The set used nearly 400 rubies and more than 6,000 diamonds. It was finally auctioned off by the Third Republic in 1887.
