Immerse yourself in a thoughtful and contemplative Stations of the Cross experience, where each station invites deep reflection and spiritual connection.

This experience has been updated for 2023 and the files can be found here. As we prepare for Lent 2011 at the church I attend, McKendree UMC in downtown Nashville, I've been remembering a stations of the cross installation we did at The Well, a gathering we held at Grace UMC in Mt Juliet, TN from 2005-2006. Here's what we did and how we did it. You can view photos for most of the stations on Flickr. I should say first that the installation we did was very three dimensional and certainly…

A long, long time ago (2012!) I posted a set of Resurrection Eggs (for the stories during Holy Week) that I made with our CCD program. A couple of years later, I also made a set of Way of Light Resurrection Eggs (for the stories during the Easter Season). We recently had a CCD family day focusing on the Stations of the Cross. Kids aged 5-14 participated, and I knew that the little ones would benefit from something hands-on before we went to the church to pray the Stations together. I thought…

Yesterday afternoon the kids and I finally started putting together the Stations of the Cross Grotto Kit that I purchased a couple years ago. After taking everything out of the box, and seeing just how many popsicle sticks were included, I nearly packed it up for another year… I’m so glad that I didn’t! We started […]

For most children, the concept of one week is a difficult length to comprehend. Trying to explain to a small child that Lent lasts for 40 days is nearly impossible. Instead of asking them to commit to an activity for 40 days or ignoring the season all together, try picking one small activity, act of kindness/giving, or moment of prayer to explore with your family for each day or week of Lent. Here are some ideas! I will post tutorials and pictures as we get to them this season... Ash…

I have found lots of great ideas for the Stations of the Cross. This one-by far- is my favorite. I also added tea light candles that are turned off after each station is read. I got the Printable Stations from The Bookworm. Laminated them. Placed them in a box. Added the symbols for each Station. DOS repeated the Stations after Cookie Man read them. The Littles really took to the "story of Jesus". The picture above does not do justice to how they took it all in.

I want to share a wonderful, free resource with you that I found last year through another blog. On our nature table, we have the Stations of the Cross as 3-part Montessori cards, so that the kids can use them anytime they want. You can download them at a blog called The Bookworm here. My son has especially enjoyed them, since he can already read. Here are some photos of him putting them in order and matching the captions with the pictures after breakfast on a leisurely Saturday morning. The…

Have you been praying the Stations of the Cross this Lent? This beautiful, traditional prayer is a rich and meaningful way to meditate on Our Lord's Passion while looking towards His Resurrection. I use the Stations of the Cross all throughout Lent in my classroom- we pray them together, the students make projects about the Stations, they write their own versions, and they lead them for the school. To help with their prayer and reflection, I've got a big basket with a huge variety of books…
