Your amygdala sends information to your prefrontal cortex which is responsible for focusing, analyzing, computing, deciding, and reasoning. When your amygdala gets upset or scared, it stops sending information to your prefrontal cortex. That is when we are not thinking rationally or responding rationally. If you feel your amygdala getting out of sorts, take slow deep breathes, make yourself laugh, be conscious of how you/your brain are responding to the situation.
