When looking at the majority of historical photos, it might seem that the world was black-and-white and all we had were wars and disease.

Sometimes you see sleeping animals in the most unexpected places. For instance, you might be in a hurry to leave the house, but suddenly your eyes catch your cat comfortably sleeping in your shoe. Or you might see your pet sleeping in some grapevines, trying to get a tan. Who knows where we’ll find them next?

Comprised of over 700,000 pictures, Lee Shulman’s archive of strangers’ Kodachrome slides shows that people in the mid-20th century used photography much as they do today.
