the quilts are laid out and ready to be sewn

Earlier this week I showed a D4P block I had whipped up for a mug rug. Missy wrote and asked if I would be willing to share a tutorial. Of course! The original Pinterest pin I stole it from is here which includes the math for different size blocks. Sew (4) 5" squares together and spiral the center seam. a piece of fabric that has been cut into squares

Ever wonder what to do with a fat eighth? Here is one great simple block - it's a disappearing 9 patch - cut on the diagonal and reassembled. For this quilt I used all Cotton + Steel fat eighths. After "auditioning" different ones, I decided that I preferred white for clear contrast and continuity. Think of Minnie's white spots on red. :-) I had to use self-discipline on starting this quilt (or any other that are…

an image of a patchwork quilt with the words double disaparing 9 - patch

Hi Stash Bee! My name is Em and I have participated in Stash Bee all except one year, I think. Five times? Anyway, I always enjoy this bee and I LOVE that there is now an Instagram hive because that's my main mode of social media interaction. You can find me @moonlightsewing. Since I'm part of the IG hive, I prepped this tutorial so that I could make it available on Instagram as well. This is the classic "double disappearing nine patch" block and I made it so that the starting pieces are…
