A combustion chamber is a confined space inside the internal combustion engine in which combustion of mixture of air and fuel takes place. When combustion of mixture takes place, the temperature and volume of mixture increases and high amount of heat energy is liberated. Due to this high pressure is created inside the combustion chamber which moves the piston up and down. Hence, the combustion chamber is a very important part of an internal combustion engine.

The camshaft and valve system function to open or close the intake and exhaust valves at the right time in order to let the air(or compressed air) into combustion chamber and let the exhaust out through exhaust manifold. The function is fulfilled by cam lobes, driven by a chain, gear or belt. The camshaft is installed on the engine block or cylinder head per the configuration. For most of the engines, cam lift valve by support by lifter, push rod, rocker arm and valve bridge.
