Like many Cambridge colleges, the buildings can date from many different centuries. This is the entrance on the corner of Trinity Street. Gonville and Caius College was first founded in 1348 as Gonville Hall and re–founded under its present name in 1557. The college is based around three beautiful courts in the very centre of Cambridge. Most of the stone used to build the college came from Ramsey Abbey, Cambridgeshire, following the dissolution of the monasteries by King Henry VIII.
