I thought I’d share a bit more of my process for quick botanical sketches. Plants are a great subject to draw for beginners, as they are very patient (don’t move or run away) and interesting and pretty to look at. I never get tired of drawing flowers. The first step is always to get a grasp of the absolute basics – basic shapes, volumes and angles. Almost always I start with a very rough (and light) pencil drawing, just to get a feel for the placement of the different shapes.
