This is not my first attempt to capture a sun dog though I think this is one of my better ones. Saturday's blizzard died down at just the right time and it made for and incredible sunset. The wind was quite strong during the capture of this image.

The internet was left flabbergasted after a rare “rainbow cloud” was spotted earlier this month.

A sundog is a relatively common atmospheric optical phenomenon associated with the reflection/refraction of sunlight by the numerous small ice crystals that make up cirrus or cirrostratus clouds.

The lens-shaped ‘lenticular’ cloud was sculpted by nearby mountains.

Nothing gives our brains the same kind of fireworks as watching creepy things. And if you’re not one of the horror aficionados it may be hard to understand the point of the thrill that horror gives.
