The Armistice, an agreement to end the fighting of the 1st World War as a prelude to peace negotiations, began at 11 am on 11 November 1918. Armistice is Latin for to stand (still) arms. To this day we mark Armistice Day around the UK with a Two Minute Silence at 11 am on the 11th day of the 11th month.

This is probably the longest period of time I have ever left between my blog entries. And there are a few, unexciting, reasons for this.
