How General Washinton preferred his troops to look. This individual is wearing a "Hunting Frock". Both easier and cheaper than the Regt. coat. And the English troops assumed that individuals dressed like this were carrying "Muzzleloading Rifles" which were accurate to 300 yrds. rather than the "smoothbore muskets" carried by the majority of the troops.
