Harper Longarm Quilting on Instagram: "This is Lucy Gay's 'Homage to Grandmother's Flower Garden' quilt. 😍 When Lucy contacted me with photos of her quilt, I jumped on it! For me, this might be my only chance to longarm such a quilt. Each of these 2" hexies that make up the flowers were fussy cut out of the most beautiful Kaffe Fassett fabrics. It is English paper pieced together by hand! It took Lucy approx 1 hour to cut, baste and stitch each of the small flowers - and about 3 hours for the large flowers. She worked away on this beauty for a year! I wanted the longarm quilting that I added to accentuate her stunning work without becoming the focus. I made a feather for her background hexies and then alternated through 11 different flower designs that I made while matching thread col
