The sun is shining on this glorious Saturday, the 21st of September 💃 Here are some tips on making this casserole hotpad: 🍁 cut a piece of insulbright about 12” x 17” along with a backing piece of fabric. 🧡 fussy cut a center square at 2 1/2” 🍁 cut scrappy strips in various lengths of 2” wide 🧡 fold your insulbright in half twice to find the center. 🍁 quilt as you go by starting with the center fussy cut block on the diagonal. 🧡 sew strips around the square in a log cabin fashion, and building out to the corners. 🍁 you can sew the backing fabric on at the same time strips are sewn or added later and then machine quilt around the strip seams. 🧡 trim off the excess fabric ends to make an even rectangle. 🍁 cut binding 2 1/4” wide by the length of the outside edges of the rectangle. Sew the binding around the outside edge. I personally like to sew from the back and fold up binding over the top edges and sew in place with an applique stitch.
