Illustrator Anthony Browne: Alice’s Hand. "This part of the story reminded me of a beautiful etching by Max Klinger from a series of pictures called The Glove, so I paid a little homage by including the strange flying creature in the background. Of course there is no mention of this creature in the book but throughout my version I wanted to echo Carroll’s puns, puzzles and metaphors with dreamlike visual puns of my own."

Willy dreams...this was my favorite illustrated children's book when I was little and it influenced the way I see illustrations. The clever connotations of every detail in this book really inspired me to try to put as many intricate details as possible into the story of The Dragon King for the observant reader to find and study, as I so often did as a child.
