5.5K reactions · 67 shares | I’ve been a bit quiet on here lately as i’ve been away working at the Chelsea Flower Show in London but I’m back & feeling inspired! I wanted to create something modern for the garden & this concrete planter might just be my favourite DIY yet. I’ve made a few before, but this technique is a game changer! So satisfying to make & I love how it turned out, especially filled with summery flowers on my patio. Seriously, how cool though? I really thought this wouldn’t work! Fancy making your own? I’ve shared the full how-to below: -Take a small plastic bowl or planter & clean it well -Fill with building sand, pressing down firmly as you go -Place a piece of board over the top & carefully flip the filled planter over -Lift onto a lazy Susan or swivel tray, tap the sides & slowly remove the planter to reveal a sand mould. Smooth any gaps. -Mix cement, sand & cement fibres (these add strength to the concrete when set & help prevent cracking in a frost) -Making sure the mixture is a runny cake mixture consistency, pour over the sand mould & smooth out using a trowel…gently! -As the cement starts to set, smooth out with your hands making sure you wear gloves -Add another 2 layers of cement mixture, smoothing as you go -Leave to cure for at least 2 days before turning over -Dig out the sand, brush clean & leave to dry for another couple of days -Seal with a waterproof stone sealer to make your planter waterproof -Plant with your fave flowers What do you think?
