Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen
The Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen (meaning little, low-built, clerk's dog from the Vendée region) was bred in 18th-century France for chasing hares. It is the most popular of the griffon Vendéen dogs for its alert enthusiasm, despite frequently having back problems due to its long, short shape. Petit Bassets are good with children & with other animals, adapt well to urban living, & can tolerate cold but require a lot of exercise.
